Switch + Pokemon

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee was a reimagining of the original Kanto Region games brought to the Switch with a heavily modified control scheme and changed core mechanics with an emphasis on a Pokemon GO! mass catching system.

I feel like this game was when I started to really get into my own rhythm. I know my format, I know how I want to deliver content, and I know what things I want to explore and change.

Whenever I covered Botw or its DLC vs a Pokemon game I always saw a large drop in subscribers before a boost back up. I saw this as the game that would combine my previously segmented audiences from the 3DS Pokemon Game and the Switch Audience. That is partially what happened. While it might seem like a match made in heaven, the simple controls were off-putting to some, and the $300 price for the system was a barrier for entry.

This caused these videos to not take off right away, but saw a large boom at Christmas of launch. This was also when I started to dive more into numbers and mechanics of HOW the games functioned. I then combined that with some more casual videos. Pokemon challenges were getting popular on Youtube and I decided to make a 1-video entire challenge and I’ve honestly rewatched it a few times as I feel as thought it’s some of best work.
