The Best Zelda game is also the least Zelda-game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released March 3rd, 2017 alongside the Nintendo Switch.

This was a game that I felt truly lost in a sense of exploration and discovery. I covered the pre-launch of the Nintendo Switch and this game. I decided to release two series of videos at the same time. A more tips & tricks style which went over secrets, unlockables, as well as strategies. The other was “Shrine Hunters,” a series where I would go over the location of all 120 Shrines in the game, completion of them as well as secrets they hold.

This video was one of the first I ever put out that was featured in new articles and allowed a much large audience to learn about my videos.

The guide of the game featured this clothing set and with the information that there were cancelled Amiibos, it was clear what was going on. I found someone who was able to program that information on an NFC chip and make this video. It was the first time that I utilized outside resources to figure out something that hadn’t been covered on youtube before. Also, before Breath of the Wild, Majora’s Mask was my favorite Zelda game.

Shrine Hunters

Shrine Hunters would be my idea for an open-world game’s walkthrough. Since the game had no predetermined order to do anything, I thought just going region by region would be good. After the 4th or 5th episode I kind of let up to focus more on the Tips & tricks, but then people kept asking when Shrine Hunters would continue. That was the first time I realized that these kind of videos wouldn’t be a hit at first, but served for longevity for the game on my channel.

The Master Trials DLC

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC Pack 1, The Master Trials (full title) was the first time this franchise would see a paid downloadable-content for a Zelda game.

Now that I had a handle on how I wanted to present my channel, the type of content I wanted to make, and my overall format - I was ready to tackle this large expansion to a Zelda game that quickly became one of my favorite.

The game added lots of small treasures and treats everywhere, but the largest part was “The Trial of the Sword.” A long gauntlet style dungeon that strips you of all gear you’ve collected along the way. I went to many youtube streams that I could see were having trouble and asked if I was able to give them some tips that I was scripting. After helping 8 streamers get through it - I knew it was a solid guide. This was the first “FULL GUIDE.” I’ve made that I couldn’t be more proud of.

“Trial of the sword glitch”

With the DLC there were a slew of interesting glitches that can be achieved in the game. Before this when there was something interesting like this, I would cover it briefly, but the community of discovering and exploring these exploits was thriving so strong that I covered it more and more.

This was the first time that I covered glitch/exploit heavy content on my channel. Personally, for a single-player game that was no multiplayer features I think these exploits - as long as it doesn’t endanger your progress - are perfectly fine.

While none of these glitches are still present in the final update of the game, I decided to keep them on the channel as a documentation to the fun time we all had with them. That is when I realized it was important to note in the title and video that these features were patched so people don’t try to recreate these steps after they were no longer able to be done.

The Champion’s Ballad

The second and final DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would bring new shrines to overcome, more story, and a new challenge to defeat the game’s already defeated bosses.

This marked the end of my Time making videos for Breath of the Wild with 109 videos remaining up, ending my game-focused content with one final video that would provide 40 challenges of replay-ability for anyone who would want to. The final b-roll scene I use in this video is the final scene after the final part of the DLC, in my mind completing my adventure with the game.
